Jazz Saxophonist Noah Howard Dead At 67
Jazz saxophonist Noah Howard has died. Billboard.com reports that Howard's agent has confirmed that the seasoned musician passed away last Friday, September 3rd, at age 67. Howard died while vacationing in the South of France. The cause of death is unknown. The New Orleans-born musician made a name for himself in France in the 1970s and in Belgium in the 1980s, where his work was lauded for its innovation. Citing sax players John Coltrane and Albert Ayler as influences, he also led his own Noah Howard Quartet alongside musicians Ric Colbeck, Scotty Holt, and Dave Grant. A funeral is planned for the late musician at the Royal Chapel in Brussels, Belgium today.
