James Otto Hospitalized With Abdominal Ailment, Cancels Weekend Shows
James Otto is sick. The country singer is sharing a little bit about his condition in a message on his website, noting he was admitted to a hospital Tuesday with an "abdominal illness." He says it's something that's been persistent but he'd been able to dismiss it, explaining, quote, "I have been feeling badly on and off for a while now but didn't think it was serious. Plus, I may have been a bit distracted by all the excitement of baby Ava's arrival!" Otto's daughter, the first child for the singer and his wife, is only a few weeks old. She was born at a Nashville-area hospital on August 24th. He adds that he expects to be, quote, "down for a few days," but is hoping he'll be "back in action and on the road again soon." Otto's illness is forcing him to cancel his concerts this weekend. He was slated to perform in Clarksville, Tennessee Friday night and in Berea, Ohio on Saturday. His next scheduled show is with Blake Shelton in Hutchinson, Kansas on September 17th. Otto also has a new CD arriving next week. "Shake What God Gave Ya," featuring the singles "Groovy Little Summer Song" and "Soldiers & Jesus," will be in stores Tuesday.
