Stone Sour Gets Personal On New CD
Stone Sour's Corey Taylor says the group's new release "Audio Secrecy" includes some personal material. He notes the CD shows more of where he's at in his life at the moment, telling Spin.com, quote, "It's a very honest album for me. For the longest time I felt compelled to talk about how angry I was about certain things. But I can't be that guy. It made sense ten years ago because it was still very fresh. But now I'm singing about things I've gone through in the last five years -- the different relationships I've been in, the end of my first marriage, my new marriage." But Taylor notes the material isn't just about romantic relationships, adding that songs also address friendships that have deteriorated over time. He explains, quote, "These are people you grew up with, people that you've known half your life, and to see how they're becoming less recognizable. It's very much about how long it's taken to wash the dirt off my hands." Taylor points to "Unfinished" and "Let's Be Honest" as relationship-inspired tracks, while he says "Hesitate" -- which the rocker says is one of the best songs he's ever written -- is about having the courage to walk away from a passionate relationship. Stone Sour's "Audio Secrecy" album is out now.
