30 Seconds To Mars, Paramore, Representing Rock At MTV VMAs
Thirty Seconds to Mars, Florence and the Machine, and Paramore's Hayley Williams are leading the pack of rock nominees heading into the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. They each have four chances to win. Thirty Seconds to Mars' "Kings And Queens" and Florence and the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" are both in the running for the event's top prize of Video of the Year as well as Best Rock Video. Williams is in both of those categories as well. "Airplanes," her collaboration with B.o.B., is another Video of the Year contender while Paramore's "Ignorance" is also up for Best Rock Video. Other Best Rock Video hopefuls include two-time nominees Muse, with "Uprising," and MGMT, with "Flash Delirium." Broken Bells are among those vying for Best New Artist. Green Day, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Mumford And Sons, Miike Snow, and The Black Keys have nominations as well. The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on MTV. Lady Gaga leads the way with 13 nominations -- which is the most ever for any artist in a single year. Rapper Eminem, who's slated to open the ceremony, follows with eight nods. Paramore and Florence and the Machine are also among the performers, along with Kanye West, Usher, B.o.B., and Justin Bieber. "Chelsea Lately's" Chelsea Handler is on board to host the show.
