Guster Bassist Leaving The Band
Guster is making a switch in their lineup following bassist Joe Pisapia's decision to move on. Group members say in a posting that Pisapia has been writing songs with k.d. lang and producing her new album and he wants to take the opportunity to play with her on tour supporting the upcoming disc. They explain, quote, "We're sad to see Joe go, but ecstatic that our brother has a chance to perform with one of his musical heroes. It's a difficult separation but a very amicable one -- it's like watching a family member go off to college." Band members add that the door is open to working together again in the future. Pisapia had been with Guster since 2003.
Guster's final show with Pisapia is coming up this weekend. The band's performance Sunday at the Life Is Good festival in Boston will be their last concert together. Guster has already found someone to fill the void, tapping Luke Reynolds for the job. Reynolds has played with the bands Blue Merle, Pictures And Sound, and as part of Brett Dennen's band. He joined Guster with Pisapia's blessing. |
