Bennett Says Venues, Fan Loyalty Are Keys To Success
Tony Bennett is reflecting on what's made him a success for so many decades. The 84-year-old crooner told "The Winston-Salem Journal" that where he sings is sometimes as important as what he sings. Bennett said, quote, "I deliberately stay in as many comfortable acoustical halls as possible. I don't like huge stadiums...I just like to play in the best places." The Grammy-winner added that treating his audiences well is also essential to longevity. Bennett said, quote, "I disrespect anybody that doesn't care how the public is treated when they come out for a performance."
Bennett will have a chance to treat his fans well this Friday, September 10th. He's performing at an opening night gala for the new Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The new center was named for Milton Rhodes, who's twice served as the President and CEO of The Arts Council of Winston-Salem. |
