Jury Selection To Continue In Death Of Lockport Counselor
(Lockport, NY) -- Jury selection will continue tomorrow in the case of a Rochester man accused of killing a counselor at a Niagara County home for troubled youth. An appellate court judge has denied the defense request to halt jury selection as they continue to try and get the case moved out of Niagara County. Nineteen-year-old Anthony Allen is accused of killing 24-year-old Renee Greco who was working at the home in Lockport on June 8th of last year. The defense argues that a fair trial will not be possible because of the media attention. So far, in two days of jury selection not a single candidate has been chosen. The third day of jury selection is scheduled for Wednesday but a change of venue hearing is not set until sometime next week. Prosecutors object to moving the trial. Co-defendant, 18-year-old Robert Thousand, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and is expected to testify for the prosecution.
