Perry Says Aerosmith's Future Is Uncertain
Joe Perry is speculating about the future of Aerosmith again. Echoing statements made a few weeks ago by fellow band member Tom Hamilton, the guitarist told Cincinnati.com that the band's frontman Steven Tyler is on board for the TV show "American Idol." Perry says, quote, "He (Tyler) told me just a couple of days ago he signed his papers to join the show. As far as he knew, everything's set to go." FOX executives, meanwhile, will not confirm Tyler's "Idol" status. As to the Boston rockers' future together, Perry adds, quote, "I think everybody's a little worn out. The tour is winding up, and we don't know when we'll work again as band. That part of it is up in the air, and it's starting to hit home." Throughout late 2009 and into 2010, Perry spoke publicly about replacing Tyler as Aerosmith's frontman. His comments followed an onstage injury suffered by the 60-something frontman that led to the cancellation of tour dates and a statement made by Tyler that he planned to spend a few years working on solo projects. On the immediate horizon, Aerosmith is continuing its "Cocked, Locked, and Ready To Rock!" tour throughout North America. The final date on the trek is scheduled for September 16th at Vancouver's Rogers Arena.
