Toby Keith Still Believes In Full Albums
Toby Keith says he's not interested in the "six pak" format some artists have recently embraced, noting he believes fans still like full albums. He uses Trace Adkins' latest effort, "Cowboy's Back In Town," as an example. The lead-off single from Adkins' album is "This Ain't No Love Song," which is making slow progress on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. After 15 weeks the single is at its highest position to date at number 27. But Adkins' album "Cowboy's Back In Town" is debuting at number one on the Country Albums chart with 50-thousand copies sold in its first week. Keith also notes that he and Adkins have been on tour together this summer, and he believes their collaborative tour has helped Adkins sales. He explains that the trek has allowed Toby Keith fans to get to know Adkins' music, and these new fans likely account for some Adkins' CD sales. "Cowboy's Back In Town" is Adkins' first release on Keith's Show Dog-Universal label.
