Rochester Boy A Hero; Drowned While Saving Relatives From Pond
(Rochester, NY) -- Grief counselors will be on hand at a second Rochester school today. This after eleven-year-old J'son Wilson drowned in a pond behind the Westfall Townhomes, near where Wilson lived. Family members are hailing the boy as a hero who dove into the water to save his ten-year-old sister and seven-year-old cousin. Police say the children crawled under a fence Wednesday evening and were playing near the water when the two girls fell in. Investigators say J'son jumped and rescued the girls, but was not able to pull himself out. He died about two Thursday morning at Strong Memorial Hospital. The two girls did not suffer life threatening injuries. Wilson was a student at School Number Seven.
