Rochester Mayor Releases More Details Of School Control
(Rochester, NY) -- More details of Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy's plan to take control of the schools are slowly being released. Duffy now says his plan would focus on neighborhood schools and school safety. The Mayor says certain elementary schools in each quadrant would have child care available from seven AM until eight PM. Some school programs would require school uniforms and teams of school officials would deal with truants. Duffy also wants to guarantee parents that their children will be able to attend a neighborhood school and that transportation would be provided for elementary students. The plan for Duffy to assume control of the school district would have to be approved by state lawmakers in Albany. |
