Medley Centre Mall Developer Makes Payment
(Irondequoit, NY) -- The developer of the Medley Centre mall has made a required payment to Monroe County just hours before Monday's deadline. Developer Scott Congel wired more than 324-thusand dollars to the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency just three-and-a-half-hours before yesterday's deadline. The County, town of Irondequoit and the East Irondequoit Central School District had been threatening to pull a tax deal on the project if the money was not received by Monday's deadline. Officials say the cash was overdue from a previous date in January. The deal means the developer will pay the three government entities money in lieu of taxes. A 260-million dollar makeover of the mall is scheduled to include hotels, housing, a movie theater as well as new shopping and dining areas. |
