The Stooges Welcomed In Rock Hall's Class Of 2010
The Stooges are now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band's legendary frontman Iggy Pop accepted the honor on behalf of the band. During FUSE's broadcast of the event, he said he was grateful that the band was getting a "second act." Along with The Stooges, the Rock Hall's Class of 2010 also includes Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, The Hollies, and ABBA. Other rockers taking part in the ceremony included Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, who introduced The Stooges; and former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio, who welcomed Genesis. Train singer Pat Monahan was among the performers. The 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York on Monday night, and aired live on FUSE. Non-performers were also honored during the star-studded ceremony. Music executive David Geffen was awarded the Ahmet Ertegun Award, along with songwriters Mort Shuman, Jesse Stone, and Otis Blackwell, and the songwriting teams Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich.
