Rochester Teen Girl Admits To Fatal Shooting
(Rochester, NY) -- A 16-year-old Rochester girl has pleaded guilty to a fatal shooting. Prosecutors say Jessica Arnold shot into a crowd during a fight on Conkey Avenue, killing 33-year-old Lamont Smith on June 13th of last year. Arnold was scheduled to go on trial next week on a murder charge, but accepted the deal on a reduced count of manslaughter. Her defense attorney says Arnold did not intend to kill Smith and did not want to risk more sever punishment if convicted during a murder trial. She faces 18 years behind bars when sentenced on March 25th. |
