Lieutenant Governor Presents Proposal To Reduce Deficit
(Albany, NY) -- Lieutenant Governor Richard Ravitch is taking a swing at reducing New York's massive budget deficit. Ravitch has released a proposal outlining a five-year plan aimed at helping the Empire State get out from under a roughly nine-billion dollar budget gap. Ravitch's plan calls for limited borrowing, a spending cap, spending cuts and the creation of an independent review board to keep the budget in check. Governor Paterson says he's not fond of the borrowing aspect of Ravitch's plan, but he'll take it under advisement.< |
