Rochester Graduation Rate Slips
(Rochester, NY) -- Fewer than half of Rochester high school students are graduating in four years. Rochester's graduation rate has slipped to 46-percent which is down from 52-percent last year. The school district was bracing for a drop, blaming tougher state requirements. State education officials released the numbers yesterday. Rochester had been gaining traction up until this year. Three years ago the graduation rate was 39-percent, improving to 52-percent last year before this year's drop.
