Nearly One Thousand Take Polar Plunge
(Olcott, NY) -- Nearly one-thousand swimmers took a chilly plunge into Lake Ontario. Organizers of the Polar Bear Swim for Sight event say 990 of the bravest splashed into the 38-degree water Sunday in Olcott Beach. Those who accepted the challenge say they look forward to the event every year as the first sign of Spring. While the water may have been cold, the air for this time of year in Western New York was pleasant. The mercury hovered around 39-degrees for the 41st annual event.<
