Rochester Man Charged With Cruelty To Animals
(Rochester, NY) -- A Rochester man has been charged with allegedly hitting a cat with a hammer. Authorities say the feline somehow made it in to 41-year-old James Richardson's Lyell Avenue home on Tuesday. Investigators say Richardson called 911 to report he had hit the cat in the head with the hammer and wanted someone to remove the animal. The Humane Society says the cat had trouble breathing and walking and had lost its vision from the attack. The agency says the animal is slowly recovering. A vet says the eyesight has returned and the cat was alert as brain swelling began to ease. Richardson has been charged with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals and faces up to two years behind bars.<
