Monroe County Executive Could Make Run For Congress
(Corning, NY) -- Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks may launch an effort to head to Congress. The Republican says she is considering a run for the House seat being vacated by Congressman Eric Massa of Corning. Brooks' first hurdle will be that she currently does not live in the district, but rather just on the outskirts in Webster. She would also have to battle former Corning Mayor Tom Reed, who has already launched a GOP bid for the seat as Republicans eye the possibility of gaining a member in the House. Massa announced this week that he would not seek re-election due to health concerns. Massa survived a terminal cancer diagnosis a dozen years ago but says he recently had another scare with the disease. |
