Suspect In Barbershop Murder Pleads Guilty
(Rochester, NY) -- The man accused of driving the getaway car after the murder of a popular Rochester barber has pleaded guilty. Prosecutors say 24-year-old Willie Harvey admitted to first degree robbery in the shooting death of 44-year-old Vincent Dotson on December 27th of 2008. Authorities say Harvey did not enter the Dewey Avenue barbershop but waited in a car as his brother and three others robbed and killed Dotson. Harvey was initially facing charges of murder and robbery and faced 25 years to life in prison. His trial was slated to begin next Monday. Prosecutors say because he did not enter the shop they were able to work out a plea to lesser charges. Harvey will be sentenced to ten years behind bars in accordance with the plea deal. His brother, 26-year-old Kevin Harvey, was convicted last month on murder and robbery charges. He faces 25 years to life when sentenced in April. |
