Rochester Man Exonerated In 1976 Rape Case
(Rochester, NY) -- A Rochester man has received justice more than 30 years in the making. Sixty-year-old Frederick Peacock was exonerated yesterday in a rape case which he was convicted for back in 1976. Peacock maintained his innocence all these years and with help of New York City based Innocence Project, new DNA testing finally cleared his name. Peacock was paroled for the crime back in 1982 but continued to fight to erase the cloud of guilt. He was accused of raping a 24-year-old victim in July of 1976 near Peacock's home on Troup Street. The victim pointed the finger at Peacock as the attacker. The real rapist has not been identified. |
