NTSB Blames Pilot Error For Flight 3407 Crash
(Washington, DC) -- The National Transportation Safety Board has blamed a slew of pilot errors for the airplane crash in Clarence which killed 50 people. The NTSB has released its final report in which it points the finger squarely at Captain Marvin Renslow and co-pilot Rebecca Shaw. The NTSB says Renslow entered the wrong speed on the plane's computer. The safety agency says the pilot and co-pilot never noticed the plane coming to a dangerously slow speed before the computer triggered emergency action. At that point the report says Renslow again made errors by pulling back on the controls instead of pushing forward. The NTSB says that caused the plane to stall and eventually crash. The report indicates the plane had no mechanical failures and could have been saved by corrective pilot action. The agency is calling for strict new safety enhancements, although chair Deborah Hersman says previous recommendations made by the board were not implemented which she says could have addressed some of the issues of this tragedy before it happened. |
