New Poll Shows NYers Worried About Gillibrand's Chances
(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- In the wake of Republican U.S. Senator Scott Brown's upset victory in Massachusetts, a significant number of Democrats in New York now have concerns about U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand keeping her seat this fall. A new Marist Poll find 45-percent of registered Democrats in the Empire State say they are worried that a Republican will defeat the state's Democratic senators running for office in November. Eleven-percent say they are very worried about such a scenario. The poll also finds that Senator Gillibrand has a strong lead over former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford Junior, who analysts believe will eventually challenge Gillibrand in the Democratic primary. The poll finds Gillibrand leading Ford 44-to-27-percent, with 25-percent of Democratic voters undecided. |
