Fresh Willow Furniture Design Class at Sonnenberg  |

Learn how to craft handmade willow furniture items with help from local expert Bim Willow in the Carriage House meeting room at Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park in Canandaigua on Saturday, March 20.
Experience the delight of forming furniture from a pile of seemingly simple sticks, a historic American craft! A simple trellis can be built in about one hour, while a loveseat can take approximately 4.5 hours.
Two special project sessions will be offered. The large-scale furniture crafting will begin at 9 a.m. Choose from a Loveseat or Single Chair, Garden Bench, Ladderback or Sassy Chair.
Smaller-scale projects begin at 1 p.m., with options of a Baker's Rack/Potting Bench, Garden Arbor and more.
Participants are advised to bring pruning shears and a small hammer. All other materials, including willow branches will be provided.
Costs are: Bent Willow Chair - $230, Loveseat - $320, Ladder Back Chair - $145, Sassy Chair - $200, Garden Bench - $90, Baker's Racks ($245 two-shelf, $200 one-shelf), three-piece Arbor ($260), End Table/Plant Stand - $55, Trellis and Sweet Peapod Trellis - $60.
Reservations must be made in advance, along with payment for cost of materials at (585) 394-4922 during business hours (9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. M- F). Reservations include a hot soup and a beverage served at the 12:30 lunch hour (bring a sandwich, if desired). Sonnenberg accepts the four major credit cards.
