Lenny Revell: Portrait of a Songwriter By: Brian Campbell |
| |
In a time when the music industry is shallow and fickle, teeming with people just chasing a buck, it is nice to see someone who is as pure and genuine as Lenny Revell.
With each piano stroke, Lenny is commissioning a musical revolution, standing up and revolting against the constant barrage of metal and punk music the Western New York area is drenched in. He is blazing his own trail, creating something not many others are, but his work continues to fly under the radar because it’s not the musical style of the area.
Sounding like the love child of Ben Folds and Coldplay, Lenny has been heralded as the “next Elton John” by many outlets. Taking influences from various avenues, including Billy Joel, The Beatles, Vanessa Carlton, and Tori Amos, Lenny Revell is reshaping Western New York’s singer/songwriter genre.
Lenny’s take on music is vibrant and refreshing, with an almost eclectic view on the future for his music. Lenny believes that he can make it in this business if he tries hard enough, whereas, a lot of other bands remain pessimistic about their future.
On a musical landscape, where the norm is metal, punk and emo, Lenny musically keeps his head above water, and he does it with style, grace, and, oh yeah, talent.
